Unidentified Woman, St. Adalbert’s Cemetery

Father Pitt cannot read the inscription, which has been almost obliterated; but although we do not know her name, we know exactly what this unidentified Polish woman looked like, because, under a thick crystal, a small photograph of her as a bride is embedded in the stone. There was probably a statue or urn on top of the stone, but nothing remains of it.

  1. would love to know if anyone has ever rubbed the stone or tried anything to get any info from it. Very curious. I have a Mary Stasik died 1906 who is buried there, but since there is no records and no map of the grounds we have yet to find her. Curious about this one. If this would be her, this would be the first image anyone in the family would see.
